Necoate, manufactured by Nutricia, is an amino acid-based formula usually given to infants who have difficulties digesting cow’s milk. These elemental formulas are usually for children 0-10 years old. Children who take Neocate are usually taking it for the following:
- Cow milk protein allergy
- Soy Protein Allergy
- Short bowel syndrome
- Multiple food protein intolerance
- Other gastrointestinal issues
In a recent study, it was found that there could be a link between children whose diets consisted of the Neocate Formula and bone disorders such as fractures, and rickets. Almost all children in the study showed improvement when adding supplemental phosphate or after switching formulas.
